About Reiki Energy Healing for Animals
- Universal Love in its purest form
- Completely unconditional
- Demands nothing of the giver nor the receiver
- Is spiritual in nature but does not conflict with any religion
- Requires no specific belief in the supreme being or in Reiki itself
- Used in its traditional form, as developed by Dr. Usui in the Usui system of natural healing, Reiki creates space for the body and emotions to heal, bringing them into balance and promoting health, happiness, and long life
Reiki is "Universal Life Force Energy." It is a holistic healing system treating the whole being, addressing dis-ease at all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing system that yields powerful results in the body, mind and spirit.

The Reiki practitioner creates healing space through meditation, love and compassion, so healing can take place as deeply as needed. Reiki is also a safe complement to Western medicine, Chinese medicine, Homeopathy, Flower Essences and all other forms of healing.
Animals respond intuitively to Reiki's power to heal emotional, behavioral and physical illnesses and injuries. It is ideal for use with animals because it does not cause stress, discomfort or pain. The animal controls the treatment, accepting Reiki in the ways that are most comfortable and deciding how much energy they need.
Reiki can do no harm - it always goes to the source of the problem and always works for the highest good.
The benefits of Reiki...
For animals who are healthy, Reiki helps to maintain their health, enhances relaxation, and provides an emotional sense of peace and contentment.
For animals who are sick or injured, Reiki can delay the progression of certain diseases, provide pain relief for various illnesses and injuries, and accelerate healing from surgery. Even if the animal dies, healing has occurred on some level. Reiki can also provide emotional healing for behavioral problems and for animals with signs of abuse. It allows the animal to release their emotions which for many have been locked inside of them for years.
For animals who are ready to pass on, Reiki is a powerful yet gentle way to provide comfort, relief from pain, fear and anxiety, and to ease the transition to death by helping the spirit to leave through the heart chakra.
How a session works...
In-person sessions take place in the home or barn where the animal lives. Animals are much more comfortable in their own environment and the treatments are more successful. In animals, treatment is approached very differently than with people so that the animal's permission and comfort level during the treatment are ensured. Your animal is going to determine how the session will take place and in doing so, they become the leader in their own healing process.
Depending on what your animal is comfortable with, I may treat him with my hands directly on his body, or from some distance away. Either way, the treatment will be effective because energy knows no bounds (see Long Distance treatments below) and I use my intention to offer the energy at whatever distance is comfortable.
Typical signs that he's accepting the treatment is increased relaxation, sighing, yawning and sleeping (lip licking with horses). Typically, there is some movement too, but an overall sense of peace and calming is very common. If they wish the session to end before our agreed upon time, they will let me know by getting up, stretching or even just leaving the room.
Long distance healing offers the same benefits as hands-on and may be more appropriate for extremely small or fearful animals, or for those who are older and more fragile. As the energy is not hampered by time or space, it can travel very quickly and can often heal traumatic events in an animal's past. Sessions can be done at any time so they work well for people with busy schedules and support in-person treatments.
